  • Is EM Vignol Brussels (Belgium) a manufacturer? It is!
Other important sources are address books of the relevant cities, partly arranged by names, partly by professions. Here I found information about workshops and manufacturers in Berlin. Surely known to many is www.gallica.bnf.fr with the for us very important "Annuaire-almanach du commerce, de l'industrie, de la magistrature et de l'administration". Here can be registered craftsmen and stores with their addresses... Source: 10 months ago
  • Questions about searching for a biological parent?
I have a significant chunk of Northern Italian as well (in fact if you see the names Galli, Esposito, or Ridolfi in your matches, we’re probably cousins). Most of my Italian matches are actually on Geneanet which is a French site you can upload DNA results to. Source: 11 months ago
  • How old were your grandparents when they died? What we’re they like?
You don't need to pay for some sites. You can search for free and build your own tree at geneanet: https://en.geneanet.org/. Good luck! Source: 12 months ago
  • Why is Netflix pretending that Cleopatra was black?
Her mother was Cleopatra V Tryphaen whose parents were Cleopatra III Euergetes and Ptolemy VIII Euergetes Physcon. Her family tree is well documented. https://en.geneanet.org/ Is a good website if you’re not interested. There are no dark eking multi ethnic people in there. These people were marrying sisters and first cousins, hated the locals and refused to socialize with them, never mind having children with... Source: almost 1 year ago
  • Unhelpful results, need help
I have an Italian grandfather with the proper region highlighted on my ancestry report. I have had exactly 0 matches from people living in Italy (granted, most people tend to leave out there location). The same is the case for 23&me. I uploaded my DNA results to My Heritage and Geneanet and immediately started finding people. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Family History
If you want to extend your family research, you can use Geneanet for free. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Canary Islands Research
Geneanet has free to search family trees, including trees for people from the canaries if that's the kind of thing you are looking for? https://en.geneanet.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Oldest Coat of Arms?
I know geneanet https://en.geneanet.org/ has the entire de Toulouse-Lautrec-Montfa family line back to him. Maybe a little beyond even. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Y-DNA and missing link.
Try uploading his results to Geneanet. It has more European results apparently. Https://en.geneanet.org/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Help with potential alternative names for surname.
You will find numerous examples in genealogical databases like GeneaNet http://en.geneanet.org , and in present-day telephone directories like Das Oertliche and Telefonbuch DE... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Help with some Belgians in my tree
You might try Geneanet. This seems to be popular with folks in Belgium to create and post family trees. I've been able to connect with distant relatives through this website. It's free to join, there is a paid version with more to it. https://en.geneanet.org. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Not sure what subreddit to post this in, but I thought you’d all be interested. This is my attempt at creating a visual model of the agnatic descendants of Charlemagne and his family.
Yeah sure, I did not mark them but I pulled from English and French Wikipedia, Medlands, Geneanet (sparingly, as it is less reliable), and a number of books written in French that I should have saved. The theory about Rothold derived from the fact his family is known as ‘de Senlis’, and are likely descended from the Counts of Senlis, which happen to be Carolingians. It is marked hypothetical because I am not... Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Who is the Balkans do you think is the most well behaved people?
Probably church records is where you should look. There has been a big church records digitization campaign in Slovenia. I think maybe even Croatia might’ve been involved? Also, online services are quite good. I’ve gotten things out of my family tree from: https://en.geneanet.org. Also extra information from MyHeritage as well as My Ancestry for AH military records of ancestors as well as sadly stalag records. Source: about 3 years ago
