Hello, I am looking for a relatively cheap GPS, that can use GPX Routes/Tracks that are compatible with Footpath. Thanks! Source: 5 months ago
It won’t help you discover the most popular running spots in a city, but I use Footpath every day to plan my route. Source: 12 months ago
I use a mobile app called Footpath, which lets you map out a walking course on a map with your finger. Then the app gives you turn-by-turn directions as you walk. I feel like the dog and I have walked every residential street in the La Mesa area by now. Source: over 1 year ago
When I need to run somewhere I am not familiar with (usually when traveling), I use Footpath for the turn-by-turn directions. It imports .gpx route files (there are a surprising number out there on the web), and you can draw/edit routes with your finger. Source: over 1 year ago
I've never used RideWithGPS. However, when I need turn-by-turn nav, I both build my routes and record my activity using the Footpath app. I have yet to find a better app for planning a route on my phone. It does turn-by-turn nav real well too. I suspect it can probably import routes from Strava. Source: over 1 year ago
Footpath: this is an amazing tool for the iPhone that allows you to draw routes with your finger and the app will then attempt to snap the hand-drawn route to the road. Source: over 1 year ago
I love https://footpathapp.com/. I'll usually use the Strava route builder, download the GPX, and upload to Footpath for offline during a run. It's very reliable and has a "cue sheet" for key turns between trails. I've pointed out a couple small bugs and their support is very responsive and fixed them right away. Source: over 1 year ago
If you just want to get down to business and do some road running, check out the free Footpath app. They make it incredibly easy to trace a route over a map and see the total distance. If you’re not familiar with the area, I might suggest supplementing that with some spot checking on Google Street View, just to make sure there’s a sidewalk or enough of a shoulder on the side of the road before heading out. Footpath App will let you draw routes, edit them and use them on your device. I love it because it doesn’t drain the battery nearly as much as other apps and you can draw the routes with your finger. Many different map types ans overlays. Source: almost 2 years ago
Did you wait for the GPS lock? The ring around the triangle should be and remain green before you start the activity. For the actual distance, you can use footpathapp.com if you remember which streets you took. Source: almost 2 years ago
You should give Footpath app a try. I think you'd love it based on the features you described. Source: almost 2 years ago
Try Footpath. It's the best service I've found for creating routes and receiving turn-by-turn navigation during an activity. Source: almost 2 years ago
If you’re in the UK, I’ve had good experience with the OSMaps app (https://explore.osmaps.com) for plotting new routes. Footpath app (https://footpathapp.com) is another good option. Source: almost 2 years ago
I love https://footpathapp.com/ - it has both an app and desktop planner. I trail run and hike in areas with no service, and with Footpath, I can download my route so that I can follow it without cell service. You can also keep a log of your routes in the app or export them to another app. Source: about 2 years ago
The best option I've used is Footpath. As a stand-alone app, it is very, very, very well built. Most interesting for you, Footpath offers turn-by-turn navigation for routes. It provides many other excellent features and has the hands-down easiest route drawing feature I've ever used on any service. I haven't tried it yet, but I suspect that Footpath will have no problem importing GPX route files from Strava.... Source: about 2 years ago
If I'm using my iPhone to track my activity, I use the Footpath app. There is no better application for quickly and easily planning a route. When it comes time to record an activity, I can load a route into the recorder and it will provide directions to me as I record my activity. Source: over 2 years ago
I have yet to find a better activity planner/tracker than the Footpath app. It'll let you plan your route more easily than any other app out there and then it'll give you directions during your activity. Source: over 2 years ago
Check out Footpath in your device’s app store. I used to spend way too much time plotting points in Google Maps to plan a route, but with Footpath, you just draw over where you want to go and it will tell you how far. Source: over 2 years ago
So, how do you expect a device to measure distance if that uses GPS to measure distance? Wait for GPS lock on the watch before you start the activity. Additionally, you can check the distance with Footpath. Source: over 2 years ago
Footpath app is pretty good on mobile. Is available on iOS and android: https://footpathapp.com/. Navigation requires the paid subscription upgrade but it’s comparatively cheap. Source: over 2 years ago
You can double check the distance with Footpath. If you are about to change, check out Suunto and Polar too. Fitness watch ≠only Garmin. Source: over 2 years ago
