  • Looking for a town/city/nation name generator
I love Eigengrau's Generator for helping flesh out cities in a world. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Eigengrau's Generator - Persistent Fantasy Settlements (Day 2 of 31 Days of Solo RPG Tools)
Eigengrau's Generator will create you a fantasy settlement with streets, establishments, NPCs and more. You can add more elements to it and edit the existing ones. You can also roll a new town if you want a new one. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Would you be interested in a handbook that features a range of NPCs to enhance your role-playing campaigns as a dungeon master?"
Seems like it would be hard to offer something that would be a better value than something like the Kassoon NPC generator or Eigengrau's Generator. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [Part 4] 20 free DM tools.
Https://eigengrausgenerator.com/ Denerates towns and NPCs, all in paragraphs suitable to read out to players. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Help with starting town
    2) Use something like this to generate one randomly. Source: over 1 year ago
  • [AskJS] Any artists, musicians, writers, creatives, etc, here? Have you found any interesting ways to use javascript in your work?
Hah. You caught me red-handed; I'm a musician, and I indeed did make a town simulator for my DnD game. Generative art is a passing interest of mine, and I occasionally will tinker around with Max MSP, which has Node support. During my undergrad, I made a little webapp called Play Something, which is a sort of constrained-improv-instructions, a stochastic score generation inspired by Cage and Xenakis' aleatoric and... • Tell me about your favorite city generators- free or paid.
Eigengrau Generator has been hands down the best town generator. It gives you a brief history, Government, Economics, Law and Order, Factions, Buildings, and NPCs. A Tavern generated by it will have a discription, the ability to 'talk to the Barkeep', a Menu, Tavern Entertainment, Customers and info on Accomodations. If you haven't check out Eigengrau, please do so. Source: over 1 year ago
  • “Real time” DM prep
I ran my games this way, and found improving a whole town so stressful that I made a town generator to do it for me- now I don't have to worry if they decide to investigate a hamlet that I didn't expect, as it produces all the descriptions and NPCs necessary. Incorporating Foundry into it makes a huuuuuge difference for my online games. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What are some good websites or resources for descriptions of towns or places in general?
Https://eigengrausgenerator.com its an actual town generator but it also gives detailed descriptions of the sites of the town. Could help jump start some ideas for you. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Creating a central hub Settlement
There's always Eigengrau, but it has certain D&D assumptions baked in that may not work if you have a specific world of your own in mind. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What online resources do you use?
Eigengrau's Generator - Ambitious generator that will put together a whole town for you, complete with taverns and individual residents with their own personalities. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Looking for a specific town generator
I just finished digging through the DMAcademy list again. I actually found it through the D&DCompendium website and not the direct document. The website is called https://eigengrausgenerator.com/ Thought I'd link it to show anyone interested. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Fantasy Sea Settlement Generator (early version)
For reference my favourite settlement tool is probably Eigengrau's Essential Establishment Generator. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • For the past 6 months, I have been working on a Free and Open source World Building App. I'm proud to announce that the First Alpha is here. [more info in the comment]
This is really cool, good stuff! I make an open source town generator called Eigengrau's Generator, let me know if you have any plans for adding import capabilities! Source: almost 2 years ago
  • [Part 4] 20 free DM tools.
Https://eigengrausgenerator.com/ Denerates towns and NPCs, all in paragraphs suitable to read out to players. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Breaks my heart to see DMs laboriously create full character sheets for NPCs. So I made a free resource to help out with that!
Would I be able to incorporate this into my town generator? Would provide credit, of course. Source: about 2 years ago
  • City Generator
For anyone looking for more depth for their TTRPG games I highly suggest exploring https://eigengrausgenerator.com/. It will lazily generate beautiful, varied details on a town, it's locations, it's buildings, it's denizens, their relations, provide story hooks, and more. Like a good game master it gives just enough surface detail to maintain the immersion, but will generate more detail as you (or your players)... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Anyone interested in building something together with svelte? Beginner friendly
I suppose I should spread my wings eventually- I'm making a rebuild of my D&D town generator in Svelte (though the repo is still private). I'm particularly looking for people able to assist with generating maps (think Watabou's City Generator). DM me if interested :). Source: about 2 years ago
  • DMs who run long-distance digital campaigns - what are some of your favorite online tools to use and why?
I might have missed it but I didn't see Eigengrau's Generator mentioned. Love it both for coming up with towns on the fly, as well as a base for towns/cities I plan to build up. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What lesser known or niche mods should we all know about?
Shameless self-promotion: you probably are not aware of Eigengrau's Generator, my holistic town generator, that produces full towns ready-to-read. It is open source and if you are a Patreon or build from the source code, you can use the import module to load the entire town into Foundry. Source: over 2 years ago
  • This Patron wasn't impressed that they didn't have access to the premium features in my town generator app.
Context: I run Eigengrau's Generator, a town generator for D&D. It's open source software (because I like learning from other people), but for those that don't feel like compiling from source, they can sling me $5 for extra features. This guy seems to not be able to understand the difference between $1 and $5. Not to mention the fact that he could literally have all of the features for free since it's open source...
