When trying to look at players or teams on dotabuff.com, I get an error "retry later". If I turn off my wifi it works fine. What happened here? Source: 12 months ago
What to buy shouldn't be an issue, just use one of the community guides and you'll have a good enough build vs trying to decide on your own. Also helpful is going to dotabuff.com and looking at recent matchup history for the hero you're playing and seeing what they build. Source: over 1 year ago
Overwolf has essentially made a number of features of stratz.com, dotabuff.com and other sites which are built around the dota 2 API completely unusable for me. I have to keep my profile private just to have a normal game of dota. So .. Till you provide an opt out option at the very least to keep my data out of overwolf, fuck you for reducing the quality of the dota experience for thousands of players, bravo. Source: over 1 year ago
Pos5 (Hard Support): Warlock (<7% pick rate according to dotabuff.com ) - Hero doesn't need high input commands helping you focus on positioning, pulling, stacking and warding. Hero also has a Spam/wave clear (Q) makes every enemy hit by it share their damage recieved with others, Heal/Damage to help Pos1 (Hard Carry) sustain in the laning phase, an AOE Slow (E) can save or assist depending on situation but... Watch other people play. Notice things you do differently. You can search high level games by hero on dotabuff.com and dota2protracker.com. On dotabuff you can search recent ranked matches by hero and your region. If you watch a win and a loss you can usually recognize when they're using their spells wrong or buy an item that doesn't work. When you go in game try to apply what you learn. Ex. I was learning... You could simply go to dotabuff.com and see the statistics there but below is not meta but my favs so dont mind im just putting my list here and they are low skilled opinions only. Source: over 1 year ago
I think most of the others covered it down pretty well. Start with the ingame tutorial (or at least as much of it that still works) and maybe check out PurgeGamer's Dota Basics and Learn Dota series on youtube (just be aware a few of the more technical/number things in those vids might be a little outdated by now). Then mess around in demo/bot games for a while to get the hang of controlling your hero and then... Source: over 1 year ago
Maybe you already know this but dotabuff.com has statistics which heroes are successful. 1 day after patch, I already know that jug is broker by filtering most successful heroes for the day/week. I dont ride with the "Broken" pro builds. Just see which heroes are successful in pubs. Source: over 1 year ago
Left Click: Select Enemy Pick Right Click: Select Team Pick It takes stats from dotabuff.com and stratz.com and calculates the best result. Tell me what you think, but keep in mind that the tool is still in its early construction days. Source: almost 2 years ago
If you find a hero you like, you can search for live matches with them under the Watch tab to see how others play them (Watch Now option, search option is at the top of the list of games on the left, it's sorted by most skilled at the top). There's also dotabuff.com and opendota.com. Source: about 2 years ago
But anyway, item timings depends on heroes and on matchup. So when You have hard lane and poor farm - item timings are a bit diffrent when You are behind. But to have some view what this shuld be like go for dota2protracker.com than look there for specific hero You want and there are icons on right leading to that game summary on strats.com, dotabuff.com and opendota.com . There (chose any You like) look for... Source: over 2 years ago

First of all, I'm a fan of your work in dotabuff.com :). Source: over 2 years ago
Go to dotabuff.com look up what hero you want to play, click guides and see what the top players are doing. Then copy the match ID of one of the games and paste it into your WATCH > Replays > Top right box. Downloaded it, watch from the players perspective by clicking camera option top right and then clicking on the characters portrait at the top. Try to find games where they lose the lane and come back, lots of... Source: over 2 years ago
-First you need to understand the meta after coming back, play 25-30 games to get a feel for what is popular and current matchups. - Now , choose a few heroes for said position such that you won't feel disadvantaged by the draft phase. -Find matches from players successful with that hero, in that position, on dotabuff.com -Download said matches in your game client, and start breaking down how they won their... This website used to run on the domain dotatoolbox.com (defunct) until I stopped paying for it. Since then I've moved from using dotamax.com (defunct) data to using a combo of dotabuff.com and stratz.com . Source: over 2 years ago
You might get useful info from dotabuff.com, opendota.com, and dota2protracker.com. Https://datdota.com/ also exists but that's for tracking Pro's and team's stats more than heroes. Source: over 2 years ago
You can look for your win rates on heroes in game or on dotabuff.com. Source: over 2 years ago
I am among the worlds best Legion Commander players according to dotabuff.com, I have 500+ games with her and I have more than 60% win rate. I can tell you that in this patch she is extremely strong because of the stupidly strong aghs shard that gives you BKB for enough time. Source: almost 3 years ago
Honestly, Earthshaker is a pretty underwhelming pos5, and is conceputally fairly complex which is why he is mostly played as a pos3 or pos4. For my money, Bane and Ogre Magi are the two best pos5 starter heroes below 4k. Both are conceptually very easy to play and Bane works like a dream if you guys are using voice comms, the only real skill is target selection in 5v5s. Go to dotabuff.com and you'll see what...
