If you only want to check for DNS leak, you can use this page: Https://dnsleaktest.com/. Source: 5 months ago
So...I registered an account on a website that is only available in certain countries using VPN. And I checked both https://ipleak.net and https://dnsleaktest.com , both websites said I'm connecting from the country I select to. Source: 6 months ago
This seems to work, except when it doesn't. If I run an extended test at dnsleaktest.com from my laptop, it shows I'm only using NextDNS. But if I run it from my iPad I get a bunch of IPv4 AT&T DNS servers returned. I have verified that my iPad is configured to only use the RB5009 as its DNS server. Can anyone tell me why or how it might be picking up all these other DNS servers? Source: 6 months ago
On my Windows PC and my ios devices, if I connect them to the separate wifi, they have internet access through such gateway (checking it with dnsleak.com and dnsleaktest.com ); but my two Android phones (Xiaomi Poco F1 and Mi10T pro), on the same wifi connection have no internet access. Strange. I did check their ip address, dns address, they all use the same subnet and same dns address as on my Windows and iOS... Source: 6 months ago
Route dnsleaktest.com 255.255.255.255 I suspect that there is some DNS leakage which is giving my location away to the streaming service. Is there some way to stop the leakage but still have specific URLs that should only use vpn? Source: 8 months ago
So startpage.com gives its users an option to view the websites in the search results "anonymusly" (that´s how they call it). Now if I do this while having Proton VPN in operation, then when checking my IP on dnsleaktest.com, I see an IP adress different from the Proton IP. adress. Apparently, a proxy is in use here. Ever since I started using IVPN together with NextDNS I've never gotten a correct result from dnsleaktest.com. Today I've only gotten an IP server with the hostname ns1.c-utile.fr. From M247 Europe SRL based in UK by pressing the extended test which definitely isn't the correct one since I'm connected to a swedish server. Source: 9 months ago
Go to https://dnsleaktest.com. Click “Extended Test,” make sure that any results are servers run by SurfShark. Source: 10 months ago
Make sure your connection is not leaking any data, such as DNS, IPv6, and WebRTC leaks. You can always check your connection on the NordVPN website to see if it says "Protected" on the top page or use the dnsleaktest.com website. Source: 10 months ago
My local recursive DNS exposed my home IP everytime I'm on VPN. I route whole LAN to VPN with my router but dnsleaktest.com still see my home IP because I ran Unbound in recursive mode. Source: 10 months ago
If you use ProtonVPN with OpenVPN, make sure to check for DNS leaks. I discovered recently that I had such a leak, but it can be solved by adding a few lines to the .ovpn files:. Source: 11 months ago
I checked my DNS via dnsleaktest.com and I'm getting different providers for both my phone and laptop. Source: 11 months ago
Check on https://ip.me before and after connecting, as well as https://dnsleaktest.com. Source: 11 months ago
If you visit ip.me or dnsleaktest.com (standard test) does it show your local IP or the one from the VPN server? Source: 11 months ago
I have a Firewalla Blue+ with "Unbound DNS" and the "DNS over VPN" options activated. I have dns leak tests on dnsleaktest.com, and some devices show the VPN ip correctly, but on my Macbook Pro the dns leak test fails, and show me some Cloudflare IPs. I have tried multiple things, including turning-off and on the WiFi connection, but the only thing that really works is manually changing the OSX Networking... Source: 11 months ago
We weren't able to reproduce this while connected to US-NY#168, neither on ip.me nor dnsleaktest.com. Can you let us know if you're still seeing this on your end, if checked on the aforementioned websites? Source: 11 months ago
You can also check if there are any dns leaks here : dnsleaktest.com. Source: 12 months ago
It's interesting to see where the DNS queries actually originate from when you use public servers. dnsleaktest.com is great for illustrating this. Source: 12 months ago
Unless your VPN supports IPv6, it's a huge security hole. Just disable it and then run a DNS leak test. dnsleaktest.com is a good start. Run the extended test and check. Source: 12 months ago
SS has been OK for me. A few moderate throughput dips. I haven't succeeded in finding the DNS leaks that other people have seen, nor IP leaking from a bittorrent client. I did feel that other services I've used felt a bit more stable and reliable, but SS's unlimited devices, support for stock OpenVPN & Wireguard clients, and a couple other cool features (rotating IP address, NoBorders, etc.) more than make up for... There have been issues. The killswitch especially had been a huge problem for a lot of people tho it seems finally like its been resolved. Not every issue effects everyone. Also not everyone really checks to see if its working properly so don't know they are not protected. I found recently (by checking http://dnsleaktest.com ) that SurfShark was intermittently leaking my IP. It may have been doing this for a while... Source: 12 months ago
