We just started using a system called directprint.io. I find it's integrations 10X better than papercut. It is easier to manage and doesn't require a print server. Source: about 1 year ago
We're testing directprint.io it seems pretty good. I'll have to look at Unflow. Source: about 1 year ago
I'm also now looking at directprint.io and Printer Logic. Source: over 1 year ago
So far, I've demoed both directprint.io and Printix. I like the directprint.io interface and management options much better so far. I watched a demo video on setting up Printix and have a live demo with directprint.io this week. Their support has been great so far. Even as a demo user, I e-mailed them with a question, and they got back to me within a few hours. They're based in the UK so it's a 5 hour time... Source: over 1 year ago
We currently have PaperCut, but I'd like to move away from on-prem printer management as well as print servers. I'm currently considering directprint.io which supports Windows, Mac and Chrome through Google authentication and is recommended/resold by Amplified IT since we're 1:1 Chromebook. That said, if you end up looking for solutions, Papercut is almost certainly the best way to go. We personally use directprint.io, but it's not as mature as selfhosted solutions & we're primarily a Google Workspace environment. Source: over 1 year ago
Haven’t had a problem, but we use Papercut as our print queue. However, I’ve been looking into another solution called Directprint.io (https://directprint.io). Source: almost 2 years ago
We were researching our options last summer for use with Chromebooks. PaperCut was one of the options we had but then I came across directprint.io. We've decided to go with them instead and so far it's been smooth. It's a worthy alternative to PaperCut. They have a great integration with the Google Workspace and a very simple setup without having to rely on installing anything on a print server. Source: about 2 years ago
Between the various services we pay for, we have the potential for getting rid of our Windows file servers (migrate fully to Google Drive), print servers (fully utilize our directprint.io service), and so on -- so I started trying to get some figures on if it would make fiscal sense to make a more dramatic migration away from MS. Overall, I am really disappointed by the lack of development for ChromeOS from papercut. As a result, I am investigating directprint.io to see if that is a more viable alternative. Source: over 2 years ago
The following names are untested by me but seem to be commonly written about. I can't write any are a good fit. The list always seems to be: directprint.io, PaperCut.com, ezeep.com and Printix.net. Again, I have yet to try any of these out since I used the PDF solution. Source: over 2 years ago
The "story" (if you want context related to the question): I am getting seriously frustrated over here. My parents had Samsung_M2020_Series printer for some time, and it was working great. But after Google discontinued Google Cloud Print, the printer is not working anymore. I know exactly why. The printer uses SPL (Samsung print language) which is not supported in ChromeOS's shipped version of CUPS. I know about... Source: over 2 years ago
Not free. Not open source. Not recommended unless if you are running a business. Directprint.io. Source: almost 3 years ago
I went through all the steps. I encountered the same problem with my Acer Chromebook R11 that I had when I tried using the app directprint.io. The computer sent the command to the printer, the printer made all the sounds of starting, the data transferred to the 50% level, then the printer beeped a warning sound and said I had no paper in the upper tray. The upper tray is for envelopes and is not large enough... Source: about 3 years ago
