  • Migrate from Linux to FreeBSD
    >I think Arch and FreeBSD have a lot in common, Well yes sure, Arch was made with Crux in mind, and Crux is: https://crux.nu/ >>which is reflected in a straightforward tar.gz-based package system, BSD-style initscripts, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arch_Linux#History >>Inspired by CRUX, another minimalist distribution, Judd Vinet started the Arch Linux project in March 2002. • What are your thoughts on Slackware the most Unix like of the Linux distros and how would you compare it to your BSD of choice?
Most BSD-like GNU-system I know of would probably be CRUX though, but I haven't used that one in almost as long time. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What to expect when daily driving KISS linux?
I suggest you take a look at CRUX instead. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What is the best semi rolling distro?
Technically, CRUX is exactly what you are asking: a semi-rolling release distro. It gets constant updates and every year or so, there's a new release that you are advised to make a clean install of. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Looking for a unique distro!
Crux was the inspiration for Arch and is still keeping it simple 20+yrs on. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • How can i make my own linux distro?
Gentoo will teach you a lot about Linux. I have never used it, so I cannot speak from experience. I currently use CRUX, which is a semi-rolling system. Arch Linux was inspired by it once upon a time. It uses ports that are remarkably transparent and easy to make. The whole handbook can be read in an hour. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Kiss Linux
Some of it sounds similar to now defunct Crux Linux https://crux.nu/ but with rolling release. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Random reboot issue
My installation is running crux 3.6.1 , with kernel 5.15.8 (I compiled the last version to see if that would fix my issues. Nope). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Question: about slackware and perhaps another issue
Slackware never was minimalist. My "minimal" Slack install with only xfce and base packages occupies 9,7gb of disk space. If you want minimal os, try CRUX http://crux.nu. Source: almost 3 years ago
