  • Is there a calendar for android that I can sync with thunderbird?
I suggest using a hosted nextcloud from a privacy respecting company. I used the Swiss company Woelkli for a couple of years. Since you will not need a lot of file storage, you can use the free tier with 1 GB of storage. Then just configure Thunderbird and Android (via the app DavX5) to use the calendar url. You can set up multiple calendars (I have work, home, holiday). It also works for Tasks and Contacts. Source: over 1 year ago
  • NextCloud Provider
The answers you have given are very good, anyway I have used for a long time Wolkli, if I have to choose the lesser evil then a server in Switzerland is better than a USA server, always regarding "non-self-hosted" clouds this project seems interesting: https://filen.io/ (does not use Nextcloud). • Thinking about using Nextcloud, what should I do?
Wölkli, an associated provider to NextCloud that offers 2Gb of free storage and a lot of features such as the support for calendar as you wish. They are based in Switzerland. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Thinking about using Nextcloud, what should I do?
I have good experience with Woelkli (Swiss) and The Good Cloud (Netherlands), both offer nothing but (free and paid) Nextcloud hosting. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • What is an app that will give me notifications from google calendar on time but is independent of google play services?
Use any free service that offers CalDAV sync (I use woelkli), set up your calendar on it, then use DAVx5 to sync it to your device and use any calendar app you want with it. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • Google Calendar alternatives
Got a great suggestion from user MrPanofsky who recommended fruux. Gonna use calendar Fruux (https://fruux.com) in combination with calendar client OneCalendar (https://apps.apple.com/se/app/one-calendar/id1238379385?l=en-GB). Source: 10 months ago
  • Way to move tasks to iPhone/iOS? (I know, I know...)
I ended up using the free tier of fruux.com (CalDAV service) to sync tasks to iOS. Everything looked good in fruux but was off by +1 days in iOS, not sure why but it was an easy fix. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How Important Is It To Encrypt Contacts?
Your original question was about how important it is to encrypt contacts and I think it depends. If you just want to keep your data out of Google's data collection hands, then there are other options to store/sync contacts and calendar data (but most are not E2EE). There aren't a lot of options that I've found as most people don't want to pay for this when they can get it free from Google or Apple. Fruux is... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Calendar and Contact Sync Tools
Fruux is a cross-platform and cross-device unified contacts/calendaring solution. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for a daily/monthly planner & diary combo app
I haven't tried this one yet but I know that it's cross-platform. It does cost money but there is probably a free trial period. Fruux. Source: over 2 years ago
