  • Is peck typing the new norm?
I teach writing and one of the things that I started doing was requiring final drafts to be typed (since all students have access to laptops at school, I just give them tons of time to work in class and during my study hall.) They're VERY much hunt and peck typers, so I set them up on typing.com and that's been helping. Because of how now STAAR is online only and requires short answer and constructed response,... • really struggling with picking up touch typing and feeling horrible about it.
Do you remember all the letters on the keyboard? If not, do more learning on websites like typing.com. If yes, practice on sites like typeracer. Make sure you're getting 97% accuracy. Source: 4 months ago
  • The Y and B keys - are my bad habits worth correcting?
So recently I've been trying to learn touch typing on typing.com using the home row rules. However, I always find that I hit the Y key with both my left and right index finger depending on the word, and I hit the B key with my right index finger 90% of the time. Apparently the correct way to do it is always use the right index for Y and the left index for B. Source: 8 months ago
  • Will my typing speed improve?
Did you learn proper typing technique (or something very close to it) by going to typing.com or typingclub.com or some similar website and working through all the various lessons and exercises until you could type without looking at the keyboard? Source: 9 months ago
  • How do I switch from qwerty to dvorak fast?
If you can type the pangram the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog without looking at your keyboard, then you know where all 26 letters of the alphabet are on the Dvorak layout. That means that you no longer have any need for the beginner websites such as typing.com or typingclub.com or ratatype.com and can instead move onto the second of the two phases of learning to type. The second phase is one that... Source: 10 months ago

  • What is the most efficient way to learn typing on a split keyboard?
After getting an Ergodox and switching to Colemak, I basically just went to keyhero.com throughout the day and spent 5-10 minutes just typing out stuff. Source: 4 months ago
  • Why
Monkeytype is the most visited and has the most traffic typing website (with over 130+ thousand unique users daily) compared to 10fastfingers.com, typeracer.com, typrx.com, nitrotype.com, keybr.com, keyhero.com, etc...., and that's according to https://www.siteworthtraffic.com/report/monkeytype.com. Personally, Monkeytype is really addicting because of its user-friendly layouts (you can choose your own theme and... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why did some typing programs have some space themes to them back in the day?
I typically use keyhero.com ; I like it better because it is more realistic than a site that will just give you random words. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Monkeytype guide updated to version 4.0
I'm betting that my suggestion to activate Stop on word (and leave it on permanently) is what's slowing you and many other people down. But that's fine. Pretty much every other decent typing site has that setting activated by default and there's no option to turn it off. Keymash, Typeracer, Key Hero, and Problem Words. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Im stuck at 40wpm on MT for a month how to double my speed?
Try another websites: keybr.com, 10fastfingers.com, keyhero.com, typeracer.com, nitrotype.com, typing.works. Change your activities for better progress. Languages do not consist of frequent words only. Source: about 2 years ago
