Go to rent.com, trulia.com, and try to rent from a person who owns their apartment/condo vs. Renting from a management company. The owner may use rental management, but they are the ones to call the shots and ultimately make final decisions. I lived in Albuquerque 30+ years ago and it was really nice. Clean, quiet, great public transit, nice people, safe. I've heard it's not so great now.
