.vi is not a file extension commonly associated with any common video format. The closest I can find is that it's an Arcsoft VideoImpression Project file, which may or may not contain actual video data. This is their website but from what I can find the VideoImpression product is discontinued. You can use TrID on the file to see what it thinks the file type is based on its magic number. You can try to use some tools that detect what extenstion file should have based on the content of the file, if the file is small, you can try https://www.checkfiletype.com/, otherwise you can try this tool: https://mark0.net/soft-trid-e.html. Source: 12 months ago
