Grab this file. Install Transmission on Mac or Deluge on Win. Optional: run a VPN if you're in the US(mostly) and worried about your ISP sending you a cease-and-desist notice. Open the file using the app you installed. Wait. It should start within a minute or two and download progress will be seen. Speed depends on how many people are sharing it. Any issues, let me know. Why "NO TORRENT"? Just get TransmissionBT and torrent whatever you want. Source: 10 months ago
Transmission can run as a headless server with a web gui. Source: 11 months ago
Get a VPN like Windscribe(set windscribe firewall to on instead of auto), forward your port via their website. Use a good torrent client like https://transmissionbt.com/ set that port in the options, and add a blocklist https://github.com/Naunter/BT\_BlockLists/raw/master/bt\_blocklists.gz. You could also check out rtorrent: http://rakshasa.github.io/rtorrent/, but I remember reading that development has stalled on that project. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Where it really starts to shine is when you combine it with other CLI & TUI applications. I use openSSH, rtorrent and Tmux (or GNU screen) in combination with PIA's manual script to achieve a remote "seedbox". I don't need to access my computers when I'm away from my local network but one has the potential by creating their own local VPN or opening up the port to their seedbox. Source: about 2 years ago
