Since writing, I have changed my system to use Google Tasks, which replaces Sortd and Todoist and allows me to prioritise emails and tasks. Todoist allows you to attach emails to tasks, although Sortd has some nice functions to combine threads and manage as a kanban. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago

I have tried them all - NirvanaHQ, TickTick, RTM, Things, Omnifocus, FacileThings, and a whole host of others -- and for what you're talking about, I keep coming back to todoist. This post isn't really about the apps so I don't want to get into a ton of detail. In short, I have tried several applications for this, including Todoist, Tusk, Any.do, and TickTick. I ended up settling on this last one. This doesn't mean it's the best one for everyone ever, but it is the best one for me right now.
