I read most of the comments here and only Origin users will be forced to EA App and..the store contents may not downloadable? Because currently, I'm not using Origin to play the sims 3. My game is installed by DVDs all. So it's likely the patch version 1.67 would be safe with the store contents, right? I can install all store contents from thesims3.com without origin. You don't need the Origin to send any online gift but you should be the registered member of thesims3.com I can still send any online present even though my game is installed by DVDs, but usually play offline for the better game performance. Source: over 1 year ago

It hasn't been done yet because it would either require each player to have the same mods...or they'd have to disallow mods (and the Sims games are pretty empty without mods). There is the Sims 4 multiplayer mod...and there's also https://freeso.org/. Source: 11 months ago
