I've been using aText for quite some time, and it's been amazing. If you are typing a lot, I'm sure you would be able to optimize your work tremendously. You can have abbreviations for your closing email phrases, URLs, and whatever can come to your mind.
Also, I'd suggest to think of a trigger character and use it at the beginning of all abbreviations. That way you will avoid collisions. I'm using a comma. For example, these are some of my abbreviations:
You get the idea. Once you get used to the app, it will save you a lot of time and typing.

First, I have to make a personal confession — I never liked the SMS short-hand thingy that worked with pre-iPhone phones. That was one of the reason I use SMS/Text-Messages unless I really need to. I have been using text-expansion since the early days of TextExpander[1], an app that works on iOS and macOS. However good the iPhone keyboard was, it was always not convenient to type and retype details such as home... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
There is an app called TextExpander that you can use to store frequently used text selections and then type a shortcut to have it automatically insert into any Microsoft document. It is extremely helpful for busting through routine motions or correspondence. For example, if I want my atty’s signature block, I have it set up to insert when I type /sigblock. I have whole letters and pleadings saved in there and I... Source: 10 months ago

To help me save time and avoid distractions, I’ve been using prompts through the TextExpander app. These prompts are shortcuts that I’ve created to quickly add little instructions I feel I have to repeat often. For example, I’ve created a prompt to “stamp all code snippets you produce with a unique identifier,” which has made it much easier to ask GPT3 to go back and retrieve the code I’m referencing. I cannot recommend TextExpander enough. You can create a library of comments with shortcuts so instead of even having to CTRL C CTRL V it, you can just type something like ;comment1 and poof, it’s there. I have hundreds of TextExpander shortcuts not just for grading, but for just those random phrases we have to type over and over and over in emails, instructions, announcements, etc. It’s $4.99 a month and it... I think I have a solution for you. I use an app called aText (there are many similar, but this one's my favorite) on my Mac and my PC to make my own shortcuts for phrases and symbols, like this. Source: 9 months ago
Not quite the answer you're looking for, but I use aText, so I can make my own date format, and my own shortcut, and it can be universal — and I can make all kinds of shortcuts for all kinds of other things, like symbols, emojis, and phrases. This way, I never have to worry about apps that don't have a YYYY-MM-DD option. :). Source: 10 months ago
