RustyBox VS Toybox (Linux command line utilities)

Has anyone used Rust to make any apps/mods/whatever to run on a RG35XX under Garlic OS or any other OS? I've heard of rustybox but I don't think that applies here. Source: 12 months ago

Ls is part of the shell, grep is a standalone app. Rust/cargo etc is in the port tree, so I don't think getting a dev env would be an issue. I notice there exists "rustbox" which is a busybox clone in Rust, maybe try getting that to compile and then add upon it? Source: over 2 years ago

Toybox, Clang/LLVM, Musl, is an obvious distro core made up of permissively-licensed components. (Busybox, as used in many distros like Alpine, is GPLv2.). Source: about 1 year ago

For #1, you can just put #!/bin/bash at the top of the file to use Bash. Bash is still available, it’s just not the default for scripts that specify #!/bin/sh. #2 is still currently tricky, but Rob Landley (former Busybox maintainer) is working on a full bug-for-bug compatible Bash clone called toysh which will be included in an upcoming release of Toybox[1].
