  • Windows Tips, Tricks, and Tweaks
"Resource Hacker"[1] should be enough to edit some strings, you just need to find the right file. [1] http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Where can one find the default Foobar2000 playback icons?
Btw there are a couple of small programs to extract icons from exe/dll -s I tried with (ResourceHacker)[http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/] and (BeCyIconGrabber)[https://jarlpenguin.github.io/BeCyIconGrabberPortable/] but neither could find other icons than the main icon AH I had the idea to maybe check the component dll-s and actually foo_ui_std.dll has the icons. • I made custom tiles in Windows 10 for my Steam games. So aesthetic
I do too but I’ve been using resource hacker for over a year or two now to quickly get the icon. Very rarely have I had to look elsewhere. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How do you sell AHK scripts?
Right click into any script, then the resulting executable open it with Resource Hacker and you'll see what I'm talking about: the script is just as a resource of the .exe. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Is it possible to change a program icon _everywhere_ it appears?
You'll also need a program called Resource Hacker. Find it here: http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • 2 TB SSD turned to 1TB SSD by repair software, is there a way to get the files recovered?
By the sound of what happened it's possible that all files residing in the last 1TB got TRIMMed (https://www.300dollardatarecovery.com/trim/) by first aid. Can you check the corrupted videos with a hex editor (for example https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/) to see if they contain any information at all? If they got trimmed there will be large swathes of either 0xff or 0x00. Source: 4 months ago
  • Bakugan Battle Brawlers Save File Editing Helper (Wii/PS3 and potentially other console versions)
You don't need to know anything about Hex-Editing to use this. You are only required to know how to copy-paste. That being said, you will need a Hex-Editor program and to know your save-file's location. I personally use HxD: https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/. Source: 10 months ago
  • Visual Boy Advance Saving As 64KB Instead Of 128KB - Doesn't Work On Cartridge
Also, notepad is only good for editing text, not binary files. You should use a hex editor. I personally use HxD. I also found this online hex editor called HexEd.it. Source: 10 months ago
  • Can't leave, can't die.
Anyway, due to the sheer size of the saves, I'd recommend using a hex editor like HxD rather than a text editor. Hex editors typically operate on just a small buffer at any given time, so opening and paging through the file is very fast. In theory, this might slow down full-file operations like a full text search, but in practice it doesn't seem to matter in this case. I opened a 100MB save that hasn't been... Source: 11 months ago
