  • Best last minute app…
If you're wanting campgrounds then I check recreation.gov and reserveamerica.com. For some state parks, you have to reserve online by midnight the night before. Others you can book same day. Recreation.gov will show you nearby campgrounds that have first come first served but there's always the chance they may be full. Source: 11 months ago
  • Central OR advice
Check out reserveamerica.com for state and federal campgrounds. Also if you search google for BLM (bureau of land management, not Black Lives Matter) , you can find information about dispersed camping. Source: 11 months ago
  • First Camping trip
I've camped about more than 2 dozen NC state Parks. They have great campgrounds. The use reserveamerica.com for reservations. Source: 11 months ago
  • Is camping through American cities realistic?
You can check thedyrt, hipcamp.com and reserveamerica.com to see what your options, if any, are in various cities. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Tell me about your planning process to book the best campsites- specifically National/state parks with hookups
Yes, recreation.gov for reserving most federal spots. Some NP have private vendor operating their campgrounds (e.g. You have to use https://www.xanterra.com/ for Yellowstone). Over here in North Carolina, our state parks use reserveamerica.com and many other states use it too. I've not had too much trouble with reserveamerica nor recreation.gov - other than some sites being tagged incorrectly (tent only but not... Source: about 1 year ago

  • Vans started parking outside my house. One is running a a generator tonight. How would you handle this?
Good bet it's on freecampsites.net . You could consider adding a review along the lines of "Hey, don't run your generators" and/or "Becoming too popular, got the knock at 3am.". Source: 5 months ago

  • Show HN: Van, truck or car camp for $0 a night
For anyone looking for actually free, no strings attached (and no subscription) camping, check https://freecampsites.net/ instead. It's a community wiki of free camp sites, usually on federal lands of various sorts (National Forests and BLM lands often have primitive campsites with fire rings and not much else). It's great for travel around national parks, especially. But please do leave no trace, pack out what... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Looking for Camping Location Suggestions
The water is the hard part unless you're fine camping with lots of people. Then I'll agree that Parker Canyon Lake, Madera Canyon or Patagonia are good for this. Without the water there are some great quiet spots outside of Tombstone or west along the i8. You can find them here: https://freecampsites.net/. Source: 9 months ago
  • Planning a trip to Oregon for camping soon
For camping in camp grounds, you can google that. For camping in the wilderness use http://freecampsites.net. Crime is in all of the cities. Portland just hits the news more. Salems hospital is not great ( from my multiple experiences). I personally would never move to Eugene. I recommend checking out Legacy and consider living in Camas or Oregon City. My nieces do this and are very happy with their living and... Source: 10 months ago
