PyCAM mentions (2)

  • Tool path generation?
If you like Python there's: pyCAM http://pycam.sourceforge.net/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Anyone running PyCAM on Linux?
Which pycam are you talking about? Http://pycam.sourceforge.net/ From what I can see is written in python 2 & so not compatible with current versions of python, so unless you want a project to get an old version of python running on your machine and not breaking anything else, is a no go. Carveco mentions (2)

  • starting a new cad/cam/cnc job in a week..looking for artcam info or downloads
Artcam got discontinued a while ago but the original team rebranded it asCarveco. As I understand it, most of the original functionality is the same and you have a decent chance of finding people to help with the transition back and forth. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Beginner in need of help!
Personally I would start with the flip technique using something like Carveco or fusion 360. Any machine would be able to do this fine, just pick one that is suitably sized. Shapeoko is very beginner friendly and generally nice to use. Source: over 2 years ago
