PTGui is probably the best panostitching software package, but it's not for casual users who occasionally stitch as a personal-use license is about US$159 and a PTGui Pro license is $317. Adobe's Ps/Lr photomerge works for most folks, but can be kind of primitive vs. Dedicated stitching software if there are stitching errors you need to correct. If it fails you, you may want to also grab something like Hugin (open source). Source: about 1 year ago

Not a perfect answer but If you convert your cubemaps into top/bottom pano splits you can view them using most of the vr viewer apps on the store. You can do this with hugin. Source: about 1 year ago

Stand in one place, take several pictures as the person walks/rides across, then use Hugin[1] to align the images, and compost them into the final image with GIMP[2].
