For more on this, and why I think we shouldn't advocate for W3W, see: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2019/03/why-bother-with-what-three-words/ for theoretical reasons and https://w3w.me.ss/ for some practical examples. https://plus.codes seems much better, but sadly it uses numbers instead of words, which are much harder for humans to remember ( https://xkcd.com/936/ ), so I don't think it will ever catch on. I wish https://plus.codes/ took off. The benefit compared to what 3 words is that you can use the closest city to give directions and cells next to each other share the bigger cell name. Source: over 1 year ago
And an additional shoutout for https://plus.codes/ from Google. Source: over 1 year ago
New to this so sorry if this is stupid. I've been trying to use https://plus.codes to try to check an address for availability at starlink. Whatever code I put in, it simply tells me afterwards "please enter an address or a plus code". That website seems to give me either a shorter or a longer plus code. Https://plus.codes/ is really helpful it allows you to select areas by plus code so you can do fine incrementing once you locate an active cell to locate it's edge. Source: over 2 years ago
It could also be cool to incorporate your own map styles based on Google Maps https://snazzymaps.com (warning, seems like a lot of ads since I’ve last used it…might want to contact their devs if you go this route). Source: 12 months ago
It's interesting. You don't need a massive budget to make a fun Advdnture! You could buy a hollow book on amazon for $10 and then place it in a library with a $1.50 map you printed at Staples and made from snazzymaps.com and Canva.com and that makes for an AMAZING moment. Source: 12 months ago
A cute map stumped me as well! I found a simplied map of the area from https://snazzymaps.com (overlaps on top of Google Maps), colored it from grayscale to purple in Photoshop, and overlaid icons from https://thenounproject.com/ on top. Source: about 1 year ago
Https://snazzymaps.com/ can be used for like city maps, you just gotta do some customizing. For some more fiddly results, but subjectively better, you could use something like QGis or other Gis applications. Source: about 1 year ago
I want something to help my setting feel real for the players, and to help me get into the headspace of running the city. Online and shareable would especially be nice. Currently playing around with Snazzy Maps, but it's not quite what I want. Source: about 1 year ago
