  • First EV Trip
Obviously I'm being a little sarcastic, but I'm serious as well. ABRP answers about 90% of such questions, and plugshare.com answers the remaining ones ("how reliable are the chargers at XYZ location?"). Source: 4 months ago
  • New Ariya owner, any tips?
You can check recent check-ins at those chargers and find others in https://plugshare.com. Source: 8 months ago
  • I don't have EV, but can I charge my portable power station with a Tesla charging pile in supercharger station? Besides, I can't find a place near me to recharge my battery.
HOWEVER, you can setup to charge at a J1772 Level-2 charging station which are ALL over the place and often free. Checkout plugshare.com to find them. These are essentially fancy 220v chargers and can be converted to charge power banks and onboard batteries.... The question then becomes the legality of doing it in your area. Some places are designated "EV charging only." You're not an EV. Some places, like Oregon... Source: 9 months ago
  • First time EV user - what do I need to do to ensure a good experience ?
Before taking a trip and planning to rely on public chargers, check recent checkins to make sure the chargers you plan to use are working properly and to identify backup options just in case: http://plugshare.com. Source: 10 months ago
  • What portable power station is best/cheapest to charge my Leaf?
Use plugshare.com to find EV charging stations near your gym, grocery stores, restaurants, and other places were you spend some time. Not as inexpensive or as convenient as having a charger at your parking space. But probably much cheaper and convenient then your solution. Source: 10 months ago

  • Tesla Model Y: My 6 months impressions
It's actually a 915km trip ending up in the French Alps during winter time, so it's more taxing on the battery, and I need some juice left on arrival (30%) You can test it out yourself on ABRP [0]. My trip goes from Lier, Belgium to Les Saisies, France. With "quickest arrival" setting, ABRP does 4 stops with a total charging time of 1h25min (and 8h29 driving). The stops are 28, 18, 18 and 22 minutes respectively.... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • What Happened to EVs?
Https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=f10ce8fe-c1b7-4ade-9c5e-bc564189a799 22h of driving, of which 2h38m for rest&charging Seems totally reasonable to me. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
    > With ICE I don't have to worry about any of that. You don't do that with EVs that nav takes all of that into account. The only valid issue are the poorly maintained Electrify America chargers on non Tesla EV's. But that about to change in the U.S. Since pretty much everyone is adopting NACS/SAE J340 Standard. Which will make them compatible with Tesla Superchargers. Apps like ABRP also exist that is compatible... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • What Happened to EVs?
There is a general drought of Tesla SCs in Queensland / NE Australia, so ABRP can't find a suitable route only using the SC network. Otherwise a scenario for the Lucid Air Dream Edition has it charging 6 times for a total of 4h12m (in "great" conditions, though): https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=c34a381b-83fc-4bd5-a6d9-2dd86fffc60c. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Santa Barbara to San Jose road-trips in Chevy Bolt EV?
Anyhow, your trip is just shy of 300 miles and all freeway. ABRP says take a stop in Bradley for up to 40 minutes if I want to arrive with ~10% remaining. If you expect or see any traffic, including in the form of road construction, you'll get better than what ABRP predicts (it tends to run conservative). Charge time is 40 minutes total, so factor in a quick meal, bathroom stop & you're good to go. You might wish... Source: 4 months ago
