Aternos Reviews

  1. I got a free server, the service delivers what it is supposed to.

    πŸ‘ Pros:    Free
  2. Overall Great

Overall my experience with Aternos have been great, it has been pretty simple to manage, and starts up quick once everything has been set up.

Probably the one reason why I wouldn't always choose aternos to host a simple, free Minecraft server with friends, would be the fact you can't upload your own mods/plugins to the server, they must already be chosen by the staff which can be annoying.

    🏁 Competitors: PloudOS
πŸ‘ Pros:    Completely free|Simple|Easy to use|Servers are fast|Mods are easy to manage
πŸ‘Ž Cons:    Not being able to upload own plugins
  3. making server should not be so hard >:(

you make life too difficult mods complicated to install just give a list of all of the installed mods make the server always running not that hard you smurf why can’t I just remove one mod without removing all mods that is so stupid you guys are morons playing minecraft with ONE other person should not be this damn hard fix your shit and get a better name aternos sounds stupid

    πŸ‘ Pros:    None
    πŸ‘Ž Cons:    Everything

I had done some research about the topic some time back, these are the links I had gathered. I was researching Java edition specifically, however among the ones linked below, at least one (Nukkit) has a Bedrock (C++) edition) Paper https://papermc.io/ Bukkit https://dev.bukkit.org/ Spigot https://www.spigotmc.org/ Nukkit https://cloudburstmc.org/articles/ Folia (mod for Papaer) https://github.com/PaperMC/Folia. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago

We will be downloading the Minecraft server files into this directory. To preface, there are numerous variations of server JARs that can be used (e.g. Spigot, Paper, Purpur each touting their own benefits). For this tutorial, we will be working with Paper, a fork of Spigot that is optimized for performance. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago

I am going to assume your client needs the optimizations not the server otherwise I would recommend paper. If you are looking for client sided optimization I'm going to recommend things like sodium, Iris Sharders, and lithium. I have used Optifine in the past and found it to be sub par when compared to those three but you might find different. I am going to recommend Atlaunch as Ive found it to be better than...
