  • Help with aligning photos and creating a gif
That's Hugin. It's basically an opens-source GUI on top of a whole bunch of open source line command tools. The one that you're looking for (and all these tools are installed on your box along with Hugin) is align_image_stack. - Source: Reddit / 18 days ago
  • Looking for a software that's able to approximately identify what ''Camera Lens'' was used for a Photo / Stock Image.
Perhaps Hugin is able to estimate the focal length in some circumstances, but I've never used it for that so you're on your own. - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
  • Is there any method or plug-in for Photoshop to create Equirectangular projection planetary maps?
If you need a free software for this, try Hugin - http://hugin.sourceforge.net/. - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
  • Combining multiple photos to create high resolution photos.
What you're looking into is called panorama stitching, and it's nearly impossible to match edges the way you're envisioning. You need to shoot overlapped frames, so the stitching software can find common-feature points to use to "stitch" the images together. Common software you can use to do this would be Microsoft ICE (Windows only), the Photomerge features in Photoshop/Lightroom, or the FOSS package, Hugin. - Source: Reddit / 2 months ago
  • I have 9 pictures of a huge historical canvas. Each is about 1/9th square of the canvas, with considerable overlap. I would like to stitch them together into a single high-res picture, but of course the angles/projection do not line up perfectly. Is there a way to contort & make them fit perfectly?
Hugin might work. It depends a lot on how you shot it. If you moved the camera in space between shots, or managed to rotate the camera from the same spot makes a big big difference. And in smaller spaces, it can also matter a lot which point of the camera you rotated around (i.e., ideally around the no-parallax-point in the lens). - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
