If you have some OS skillz the hosting service https://nearlyfreespeech.net/ could be a great deal for you. It's raw BSD Unix and MariaDB. They charge by usage (cpu, disk, io) and very reasonable, nearly free for many sites, rates. No email service, though. Source: 5 months ago
If you're fairly technical and don't often need support from your host, check out nearlyfreespeech.net. They have great shared hosting where you are billed based solely on your usage. It would be dirt cheap for everything but your "busy" site. I bet you'll still find the prices reasonable. In reading your post, I was thinking this would be a good fit for you right up until you said you aren't sure what CentOS is. Source: 12 months ago
If Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages are not a good for you, you can look into nearlyfreespeech.net. I imagine your hosting bill would run no more than $1/month if you don't have lots of traffic to your site. Source: about 1 year ago
If you're good at command-line stuff and looking for a solution that starts out very cost-effective and scales up really well, you can try https://nearlyfreespeech.net/ (That's nearly free as in beer, not nearly free as in the ability to host nasty content.). Source: over 1 year ago
Some hosts, like nearlyfreespeech.net , give you super basic and "clean/empty" servers where they expect you to do EVERYTHING yourself from step 1. Skip this for now. Source: over 1 year ago
Check porkbun.com, namesilo.com, then namecheap.com. They offer most but not all TLDs but each offers a few the other doesn't. There are some that none of them offer so you can try GoDaddy but they're pricey. Those three are among your best bets for long term low pricing. Source: 5 months ago
Namecheap.com :) your welcome. Been a happy client for more than 5 years or even more. Source: 5 months ago
I would like to setup a small server at home. Prior to doing this, I needed to move my DNS records from Namecheap. I am planning on using Cloudflare's free plan to host my DNS and also front the services once I have migrated the zone first. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
After brainstorming some domains you should go to a domain registrar website like namecheap.com and check the availability of your desired domains. If your top pick was already taken, don't stress, this happened to me too and to many other website creators. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
