If you have some OS skillz the hosting service https://nearlyfreespeech.net/ could be a great deal for you. It's raw BSD Unix and MariaDB. They charge by usage (cpu, disk, io) and very reasonable, nearly free for many sites, rates. No email service, though. Source: 4 months ago
If you're fairly technical and don't often need support from your host, check out nearlyfreespeech.net. They have great shared hosting where you are billed based solely on your usage. It would be dirt cheap for everything but your "busy" site. I bet you'll still find the prices reasonable. In reading your post, I was thinking this would be a good fit for you right up until you said you aren't sure what CentOS is. Source: 11 months ago
If Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages are not a good for you, you can look into nearlyfreespeech.net. I imagine your hosting bill would run no more than $1/month if you don't have lots of traffic to your site. Source: about 1 year ago
If you're good at command-line stuff and looking for a solution that starts out very cost-effective and scales up really well, you can try https://nearlyfreespeech.net/ (That's nearly free as in beer, not nearly free as in the ability to host nasty content.). Source: about 1 year ago
Some hosts, like nearlyfreespeech.net , give you super basic and "clean/empty" servers where they expect you to do EVERYTHING yourself from step 1. Skip this for now. Source: about 1 year ago
Depends on your risk profile, the best bang for buck is https://www.ssdnodes.com/ if you want something more stable https://buyvm.net/. Source: 9 months ago
If you want an external DNS there are services or you can get a small cloud instance. I use buyvm.net and they have a decent value VPS for $20/yr. Source: 10 months ago
Pretty sure BuyVM allows you to upload an ISO to be installed. I have a couple vps with them and I've noticed what appears to be that capability in their management console. https://buyvm.net/. Source: 11 months ago
Buyvm.net - These are very cheap but still high quality. Source: 12 months ago
I'm impressed! Where do you get a VPS with those specs that cheap? Most VPS's with half that RAM, vCPUs, and storage cost double what you're paying! And here I was thinking that my little BuyVM VPS was cheap... Source: about 1 year ago
