Lots and lots of FOSS music players use libspotify or can otherwise connect to your Spotify account. Here's just one. It's BYO frontend. https://mopidy.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
Probably a good time to give a shout out to Mopidy: https://mopidy.com/ Though as for myself, I'm still running Squeezebox - nothing like being able to SSH into your smart speaker and mess around with the Perl system that's running it. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I have a music library on my home server that I use mopidy to play via the iris plugin integrated into my home assistant UI. It plays over Snapcast which streams over the network to multiple devices in the home with independent volume control. I can fire up the Snapcast client in my phone to get it going there as well, which does work over vpn if I'm away, though I generally just fire up the files from my phones... - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago

Use MPV. Partticularily shinchiro's builds. Extract the folder where you want its installation directory to be, if you decide to install it. Otherwise, just drag and drop files on top of its window or executable. Source: 4 months ago
Https://mpv.io played it without fuss. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
One example is a script to quickly grab the URL of the current tab and send it to mpv¹ for playing or yt-dlp² for downloading. Or send some JavaScript to that same tab. Or grab the URLs and titles of all tabs in all windows that match a specific domain, close them, and then reopen in a brand new window. Alfred³ has a ton of automations that allow you to do that without having to code it yourself. ¹ https://mpv.io... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
