• Some notes on local-first development

  I built Mochi [0] from the ground up to be local first. The architecture is built around pouchdb for the local database which syncs to and from a remote couchdb database. It's been a challenge to implement and in hindsight I wonder if it was even worth it. Unfortunately neither of these technologies are very widely used any more (if they ever were).   Noteplan [1] has stuck for at least 3 years now. I like that in addition to old-school notes pages, each day has its own page. I capture notes and to-dos when I'm in meetings, and it has a separate view that will aggregate all your to-dos onto the same screen, no matter what day they appeared on.
