I highly recommend Membean for vocabulary development. It teaches word roots along with other words and uses multiple modalities. Once you've learned a word, it still brings it back to test you have remembered it. Just 20 min a day will pay off handsomely. You can try out Membean, it was made for native English speakers and has like 6 levels ranging from middle school to advanced high school level. I find it very helpful. It helps you learn to spell and pronounce the word as well as giving written and video examples of its use. It is slow and designed to be easy. In its defense it is a casual app designed to be used casually. On the other hand, I took the German and Dutch courses in 2019-2020 and got enough basis in them to be able to now listen/watch content in the languages and to learn from the languages. I learnt some basics from the site memrise.com and im still learning. Even talking with my turkish friends and their family helps me a lot to get better. Everytime I have the chance to speak with someone in turkish, I do it, no matter if im good or not.
