  • What are some "skills" that could be learned at home, without paying money?
No. But a lot of library cards have linkedinlearning (previously lynda.com) as a benefit that they pay for which you then get for free. - Source: Reddit / 11 days ago
  • IWTL how apps are made please!
You should start by studying Python, and there are dozens of free websites out there whose purpose is to teach you Python. I like and have often used the videos at lynda.com when I want to train up - right now I'm going through their C++ Essential Training course, cause that's what I want to get into next. It's a reasonably-priced site for the wide range of good quality training they offer - everything you need to... - Source: Reddit / 19 days ago
  • Where can I find free tutorials for a beginner ?
If you are in the USA (may be true elsewhere, just not sure), you might be able to get a free Linked-In Learning (formerly lynda.com) account through your public library. I'm from a smaller town and our library didn't offer it, but I was in the same county as a bigger city and was able to get a free library card and free Linked-In Learning account. I've been through some of the Inventor courses there, good stuff.... - Source: Reddit / 25 days ago
  • How do I advance my skills in InDesign?
I second looking for any instruction you can get from David Blatner. He's been the GOAT in this field for at least 30 years. Back in the '90s, his QuarkXpress Book—a door stopper if there ever was one—is still the only computer software book I've read cover to cover. He's thorough AND entertaining. See if your local library offers free access to LinkedIn Learning (RIP, lynda.com *sad emoji*) and devour everything. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • How I quickly became a professional editor (thanks largely to this sub)
Just wanted to add because you mentioned lynda.com (now LinkedIn Learning) -- for anyone who doesn't want to pay the monthly fee to use those resources, check if your local public library offers them! It's always free to get a library card and a lot of public libraries offer "eLibrary" resources like full access to Lynda/LinkedIn Learning (and Kanopy, Overdrive, language learning programs, etc.). - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
