Personally, I got Legacy Family Tree Genealogy Software - Deluxe Edition (https://legacyfamilytree.com/). Source: 12 months ago
Legacy Family Tree also has a free version ($35 to unlock full program) - I found this one a little easier to use over RootsMagic. Legacy will also import from FamilySearch (as well as RootsMagic), which was a must for me. Source: about 2 years ago
From all the free software, I like Legacy, then Ancestrial Quest Basic, then RootsMagic. Gramps I found okay. Source: over 2 years ago

It's geni.com, I'm not sure if it's an app, but I know it's a website. Source: 10 months ago
TL;DR: While filling up my family tree on geni.com, I came across a user who claims to be a priest and has made over 15k entries, including updates to my ancestors' details.
