7 best Netflix alternatives: What to stream next
If you're trying to watch acclaimed independent movies, educational, family-friendly content and classic films, you probably think you need to pay money. That's not the case, thanks to Kanopy, which has critically-adored films such as Eighth Grade, Amy, Moonlight and Chinatown — and all you need is a library card.
9 Awesome MoviePass Alternatives, From Paid Subscriptions to Free Ones
What It Includes: Kanopy is an educational distributor for library and schools, and their website and app allows anyone with a library card streaming access to over 30,000 films. The specifics depend on your local library: for instance, my Brooklyn library lets me watch six videos a month, with three days to watch each, while the New York Public Library grants up to 10 a...

7 best Netflix alternatives: What to stream next
That list is just for right now, though. As the Mubi roster is always removing titles as it's gaining titles. In its Now Showing section, you'll get a list of the movies that are soon on their way out, but they're ranked in the order of what's disappearing in a month all the way down to what's leaving in the next few days.

The Cons: Well, there’s the whole ticking-clock thing. If you’re someone with a busy schedule who prefers to add movies to your queue to watch at a later date, this isn’t a great option. And compared to FilmStruck, it’s also a bit pricy for the limited number of movies you have access to at a given time. There was also some backlash this week when a crop of recent ads...

MUBI mentions (21)

  • What do you feel you are losing interest in as you grow older?
This is not an ad: I've seen a few YouTube creators who are into film (Broey Deschanel is an example) who are sponsored by a platform called Mubi: https://mubi.com/. Source: 10 months ago
  • Netflix Loses 1M Users in Spain over Password Policing
Mubi (https://mubi.com/) is nice. You don’t get a huge catalogue but they cycle it very regularly with varying thematic focus and showcase a mix of old movies and new art releases. It feels a bit like a cinema club. I recommend. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
  • Netflix rolls out new fees for password sharing in Canada
I recommend Mubi. Just quality stuff, opposite of Netflix. https://mubi.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Signed up for a month of Mubi, any great films I'm missing from my watchlist?
Well you can go to mubi.com and sign up directly with them. I did this with BFI and tried to do it with Shudder but for BFI their web player wasn't as good as Prime and with Shudder I literally couldn't get the website to accept any of my cards. So now, if there is an Amazon Channel available for a service, I tend to go via that for ease. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Mundane Films
Not a specific movie, but if you go onto mubi.com and browse there seems to be a lot of movies like this up your alley. I'm not crazy about mundane films but there seems to be a lot of simple life indie movies there. Source: over 1 year ago
