You might also consider Joysticks & Sliders. I've built Joystick mouth rigs following this tutorial that worked really well. It's a pretty different approach though. To achieve your specific goal here (i.e. Having all these separate pieces with their own particular keyframes for each specific sound) I imagine you could rig up a set of Sliders that would all work together to coordinate those keys. There's a great plugin for After Effects called Duik Bassel 2, it allows to rig and animate characters easily, it's made for motion graphics but for your comic you could also export your characters as images after you pose them. Source: over 1 year ago
