Network - network throughput (both incoming and outgoing) is tested using iperf3 on several geographically diverse public iperf servers. Source: over 1 year ago
File transfer using iperf3 over Tailscale. I noticed that the bandwidth to my home computer (on a 500/500 fiber connection) was higher than with speedtest.net. For the first few days I was getting downloads and uploads of 28Mbps (+/- std dev of 6Mbps) and 150ms latency (+/- 35ms). After somewhere around 100GB total transfer (maybe half of that over Tailscale), it is now downloading and uploading at 10Mbps (+/-... Source: about 2 years ago
I can add to this. I have two mini self contained projects to create multiarch static bins of mtr and iperf3 for general usage. Source: almost 3 years ago
You should try Flent from the BufferBloat project. Source: 11 months ago
Flent (Flexible Network Tester) is a powerful network testing utility that aims to simplify the process of gathering and analyzing network performance metrics. Built on top of other open-source tools like Netperf, Iperf, and Ping, Flent automates the process of running multiple tests simultaneously and aggregates the results into comprehensive, easy-to-interpret graphs. Flent's ability to run various tests in... Source: 12 months ago
Hmm... It does not take much packet loss to slow tcp down at that rate. A better test would run longer than waveform, like the flent.org tcp_ndown test. Source: over 1 year ago
Also most of our web based tests do not last long enough to show the full extent of the problem. Waveform, while pretty good, doesn't test up and down simultaneously, nor does it last long enough. I've put out a few measurements here or there about what Starlink looks like over time, such as most recently, over here: https://github.com/mininet/mininet/issues/1119 - long term spikes for "Working latency" on... JPerf - This project gives a better UI and new functionalities to the initial JPerf 1.
mtr - mtr combines the functionality of the 'traceroute' and 'ping' programs in a single...
netperf - Netperf is a benchmark that can be used to measure the performance of many different types of networking. It provides tests for both unidirectional throughput, and end-to-end latency. - HewlettPack...
Wireshark - Wireshark is a network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows. It lets you capture and interactively browse the traffic running on a computer network.
TamoSoft Throughput Test - TamoSoft Throughput Test is a utility for testing the performance of a wireless or wired network.
NetStress - NetStress is a user-friendly benchmarking tool that is mostly used by networking professionals to measure the network performance of both wired and wireless connections.
