  • Optimizing Image Display with Blur Placeholder and Lazyload
In the beginning, finding a place to store images was quite difficult. I once set up a simple image server using Node.js, but it was a burden to maintain. There were many things to consider, and I didn't want to spend too much time on that. By chance, I found the website imgur.com - which allowed me to upload images without many restrictions, and at that time, the image loading speed from imgur was quite good, so... - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago

( there are relatively benign versions of authoritarianism ) >when the ideas seem to be really more needed... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • We need more of Richard Stallman, not less
The organization and ideas should transcend an individual. The organization right now seems headed for irrelevance, when the ideas seem to be really more needed now that ever. Right now he’s and his camp are in charge, so if he and the group want to run it into the ground so be it. Hopefully the ideas live on and some group can carry it forward. I always thing back to media goblin as something that should be... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Looking for a selfhosted public photo album, ideally similar to Imgur
The closest one I can think of to imgur is Mediagoblin. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Self-Hosting Public-Facing NextCloud Server
Personally, I wouldn't use Nextcloud for photos. Instead, I'd look at Lychee, Media Goblin or something dedicated to photo hosting. Lychee looks great, but turned me off because when I looked at it, it seemed to be like Apple Photos in that it puts image files in a database file instead of just raw files in folders.
