For all my image processing I use Icy (http://icy.bioimageanalysis.org/) it doesn't seem to be that well known but it is free, has imageJ built into it, and I find it much easier and quicker than imageJ. It is really handy for z-stacks too, you can convert them to nice 3D images which I imagine might complement your mitochondrial shape data nicely. Thanks! I made the model and rendered him in Blender and then tweaked the image a bit in GIMP, both free and open-source software. His eyes have a shader that I made to look like an anti-glare coating you'd see on a camera lens or glasses. His fur has a sort of faked iridescent shader on it that makes the edges rainbow'y and a more blurred version of the same anti-glare shader from the eyes - that's what's making... - Source: Reddit / 27 days ago
