  • Ask HN: Do you like to get notified when someone replies on Hacker News?
There are couple of existing tools already: https://hnnotify.xyz/ https://hnreplies.com/ Is your tool doing anything different ? - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Ask HN: Do you upvote direct replies?
Regarding notifications, try HN Notify[0]. It came up a long time ago and I've been using it ever since. I love getting replies in emails. If you don't follow up on conversations, no one learns. [0]: https://hnnotify.xyz/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: Do you use any tools to improve your HN experience?
I built https://hw.leftium.com, a mashup of https://hackerweb.app and https://hckrnews.com. I also have a bookmarklet to quickly toggle between https://hw.leftium.com and the original version. Then I installed the Refined Hacker News extension: https://github.com/plibither8/refined-hacker-news I use two services to get notified about replies to my posts/comments: - https://hnnotify.xyz/ - https://hnreplies.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: How do you keep up with replies to comment threads on HN?
For keeping track of replies to my own comments, as previously mentioned there's the threads link at the top of the page, as well as https://hnreplies.com/ and https://hnnotify.xyz/. You can also use https://hnrss.github.io/ or http://hnapp.com/ to make RSS feeds of various types. If there's a post that is particularly interesting and you want to be able to keep abreast of new comments in it, I've found the HN... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

HN Comments Owl mentions (7)

  • Most promoted and blocked domains among Kagi Search users
Comments Owl for Hacker News [1] adds a mute button to comments and user profiles which lets you do this. If you want to roll a quick version of your own, once you've identified rows containing comments you want to block, you need to hide all subsequent rows which have a higher indent. I see there's now an "indent" attribute in the DOM which would make this even easier. [1] - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • The UI of Hacker News Is Perfect
Definitely not perfect. The default "collapse comment" buttons being right-aligned is pure insanity, IMO. They should be left-aligned so they're all in line with each other as you scroll down the page, so you barely have to move your mouse. Fortunately this extension[1] takes care of that. • Ask HN: How do you use HN?
    >Do you use browser plugins or user scripts? https://github.com/insin/hn-comments-owl I've also been writing a Godot app for HN off an on for a while now. It isn't ready for prime time but here's what it looks like[0]. >Also, what are your habits around HN? I tend to lurk the new comments page. I check this site constantly, and use it as a distraction from more worthwhile projects. It's pathetic, this place is... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
