7 Best Free Open Source SIEM Tools
The OSSEC project is currently maintained by Atomicorp who stewards the free and open-source version and also offers an enhanced commercial version. However, the main pain point of this tool is that it lacks some of the core log management and analysis components of a typical SIEM. This limitation motivated other HIDS solutions like Wazuh to fork OSSEC in order to extend and...

I use hashdeep. You have to install ipkgui on Synology and then md5deep through that which includes hashdeep (or just use md5deep). You can read up on hashdeep/md5deep here in the docs folder: https://github.com/jessek/hashdeep/. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • How do I manage years of data?
Started to be able to bring some order after I discovered hashdeep. Basically I started from a reasonably clean disk with folders to sort files, created lists of hashes using hashdeep, then used it to scan all my existing disks for unknown files. With the correct flags hashdeep can list all files it finds on a disk that it has not in its lists already. That help a lot to figure out what is worth wasting time on.... Source: almost 2 years ago

  • Securing a Linux server. What else to do?
I'd take it one step further and install OSSEC as well. It can be configured to run as a local daemon and report suspicious activity, and also intervene. So if somebody is brute-forcing the login on your web page, it'll create a burst of 401s which OSSEC will detect in the logs and block the offender for X minutes/hours. Source: over 2 years ago
