I suspect you haven't looked up how often AI is being used these days. Google's RankBrain has been using (weak) AI to improve search results since 2015. They're using it for maps, tons of companies are using it for customer service chatbots, etc, etc. AI is already solving a lot of 'problems' that are either hard, or expensive to solve in other ways. Open AI's work is based off of Google's research paper. Google believes in open source! https://opensource.google/ Google will save us. Google will make their AI open source. It's not on google github/their open source git host(for comparison, the canonical go repo is), their readme makes no mention of google, wikipedia says "The language is expected to have a 1.0 release in 2024 or 2025.[4]",. Source: about 1 year ago
