  • Mod help
Personally I use GdLauncher since it's really simple to use, it also automatically installs open jdk for you, something that basically makes the game run better than normal java, and can still manually download mods that have third-party downloads disabled. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Important warning for users of the PolyMC mod launcher: Shut down *right now* and don't use it again unless you know exactly what you're doing!
Which other launchers could I use instead? – The shunted devs have established PlaceholderMC as a temporary official replacement. There's also ATLauncher, GDLauncher, and PolyMC itself was a fork of MultiMC. Source: over 1 year ago

Hopefully this helps :) if all else fails of course, try just reinstalling it! I’m sure that all your config files don’t get affected by reinstalling it, but just in case make a backup. And if all ELSE ELSE fails, you... Source: 10 months ago

If you are willing to try out the launcher - MultiMC which you can find here (there is a Mac option available) : https://multimc.org/ then I have put together an MCb173 pack that has been made for MultiMC. You just use the 'import from zip' option. Source: 10 months ago

  • Minecraft Veteran Here with some Questions
The best way to experience beta 173 is to play beta 173, and perhaps add some mods to it a little later. One of the better launchers to use for old versions and for playing modded is to use the MultiMC launcher which you can find here: https://multimc.org/. Source: 11 months ago
