I have used Garmin Connect, mostly in iPhone, for 5 years since my first Garmin Forerunner 235. It is reliable, the PB result notification which will prompt you immediately after saving your activities in the watch, and monitoring in Sleep, Body battery, Stress, .... are good. Musica control which can start, pause, ... the music playing in your phone is practical. However, Garmin Connect App user interface design is old school. If you wants to search your historical activities records, it takes time as loading data is slow and many clicks are required before you can reach your date. After recording an activity (mostly running), I need to enter two differenent sub pages to edit activitiy name and gear name which is clumsy. Runalyze is good as it is free of charge. I use it as a supplementary to search historical data. The holistic view of all activities in a page is good in comparing one single value among records. Many hidden functions but not easy to understand and use. If you have a data analytical mind, you will find it grateful.

14 Best Strava Alternatives and Similar Apps
Garmin Connect mobile app is designed for people who are experienced with cycling. It gives you a trainer-approved training package that you can plan weekly, monthly, and yearly. But, it doesn’t mean that Garmin Connect doesn’t have a social networking system. You can share your stats, but it mainly compares your results with others on a leaderboard.
8 Great Activity Apps That Are Not Strava
If you’re not so much on board with Strava turning increasingly more into a new kind of social network, you might try the Garmin Connect. Garmin are seasoned veterans of the sports world and it shows. Besides the regular data collecting and activity tracking functions, the app lets you schedule an all-week or all-month (hell, even an all-year) exercise plan or offers you one...

  • Do hiking trails come with the maps on fenix7?
Correct. You can load a GPX file, create a "Course" on Garmin Connect mobile app or on connect.garmin.com, or you can use Komoot, which is very popular too. If you use Komoot, make sure to use "Navigate with Garmin", not "Navigate with Komoot" when starting the activity. Source: 10 months ago
  • Heart rate data where do i see more
Connect.garmin.com has a lot more options for graphing. Source: 10 months ago
  • How does everyone export GPX tracks to their watch, using 3rd party apps
The Garmin website http://connect.garmin.com supports importing and exporting. You can also create tracks/routes from scratch, and if you favourite a track/route on Strava, and your Strava is linked is to Garmin Connect, it will automatically pull it into Garmin Connect. Source: 11 months ago

  • Richmond Marathon Report: Nine Weeks Between Training Block and Goal Race
I wasn't sure where to set expectations given my interrupted training, but I decided to aim for 3:03:00, as that's where my Garmin and Runalyze predicted my finish. I planned to set out at a 6:55/mi pace and adjust based on feel. Source: 5 months ago
  • Baystate Marathon Race Report: A "BQ" and a 40 minute PR
Pre-race, Garmin estimated a 3:00:xx, and Runalyze, another great website, thought I'd hit 3:01:xx. This was slightly discouraging, but I know they're just estimates so I didn't take it personally. Source: 6 months ago
  • Using Runalyze to track progress
Has anyone else tried Runalyze (https://runalyze.com) to track running progress and performance? Source: 8 months ago
  • How do you keep track of race results?
Https://runalyze.com/ is a great tool that can do this! Source: 11 months ago
  • A slightly embarassing question...
I'm currently 5'9" and 82kg and just ran a half marathon in 1:47 a few weeks back. I lost weight while training, but started off barely being able to break an 11 minute mile back in October. The 255 would work just fine for you. If you enjoy the data side of things, there are great sites that link up to Garmin (I use runalyze.com and intervals.icu) for more information.
