Colorways was always going to be temporary I'm afraid. Not sure anyone saved the custom themes for it, but I recommend checking out https://color.firefox.com/ (which isn't going anywhere), setting up a theme (you can start from a preset), and saving it. Works like a charm. Source: about 1 year ago

Interesting. AutoConfig can do some pretty complex stuff, so I feel like it could probably still override it if configured properly. I tried reading the code for this extension that changes the theme based on a set time, but I'm no javascript expert and wasn't able to determine how it does this. Source: over 2 years ago
