  As for the bottom pinned window with TotalFinder and the drop down terminal window with iTerm. Actually, I'm doing the same with iTerm, but not for the Finder window. I thought about it when using TotalFinder, but never opted for it. I should try more at a point, but to give you an idea of another application that could help you a bit in this regard (to pop a Finder window from a shortcut). It's not like a pinned... If I recall correctly the Fman author was turned off by the number of people who criticized it for being fully open-source and wished he'd stuck with a closed-source full commercial model.
