As for the bottom pinned window with TotalFinder and the drop down terminal window with iTerm. Actually, I'm doing the same with iTerm, but not for the Finder window. I thought about it when using TotalFinder, but never opted for it. I should try more at a point, but to give you an idea of another application that could help you a bit in this regard (to pop a Finder window from a shortcut). It's not like a pinned... I use FilePane. You just drag the files and a "drop here" pane appears. You can do many things with it and one of them is to convert to .jpg and you can even choose the amount of compression. Source: about 3 years ago

Dropzone - If you want your file uploads to work even without JavaScript, you can include an element with the class fallback that dropzone will remove if the browser is supported.
