  • Aggregate residential bill data in one place?
CozyCloud ? "Bills, online purchases, phone, electricity, bank statements, health reinbursments, pay slips... Gather all your data stored by third party services without effort!" (Selfhost doc). Source: over 1 year ago
  • Alternatives to nextcloud? Is this abandonware?
As far as alternatives go there is cozy cloud, which tbh I never tried, but it seems a lot more limited. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Is Drive the best GDrive alternative available?
I use Cozy Drive. It's open source. You can pick a folder in your pc, and it syncs it to the cloud. You can still open in offline. They have 5gb free version, which I use, because I need it only for documents and photos. Android app is good too, and you can automatically sync your photos. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I need a Password Manager and don't know what to get.
However, it really depends on one needs and usage. For example, tags might be a more flexible way to organize the passwords than folders, I agree with that. Searching in Bitwarden is reasonably good, which makes folders or tags a lot less relevant. The limited number of item types is not limited for my use, as I rarely use Bitwarden for anything else than managing passwords. Autofill never bothered me, personally.... Source: over 2 years ago
  • What’s a good way of sharing resources at home (local net)
If you want more of a web-based file sharing solution, you can try out more professionally made open source file sharing services like Syncthing, YouTransfer, or Cozy. The advantage of web-based solutions is that you can use them with your smartphone as well, which is very convenient. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • RPi 4 Build Recommendations (NAS/VPN/Seedbox/etc)
If you want something like that, then CasaOS is pretty great and I can recommend it, especially for a beginner. There is also Cosmos and Tipi. Yunuhost too but a bit different approach. Oh and Umbrel is a thing... Source: 9 months ago
  • The latest umbrelOS release brings a redesigned app store for self-hosted apps
However you quickly reach the limits of what Umbrel can do, its very basic in its abilities. Of course it depends all on what you (or anyone else) wants to do with it. There is also CasaOS which is very similar to Umbrel but last I compared, Casa offered a bit more features like for example adding your own docker projects easily. There is also Tipi which I must admit I havent taken a closer look at yet. And there... Source: 9 months ago
  • Sandstorm: Open-source platform for self-hosting web app
This looks exciting and definitely something to look out for as an option fkr self-hosting. Similiar and a little bit more mature is also YunoHost, https://yunohost.org/, or for professional environments, UCS https://www.univention.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
