TDSSKiller might be a bit more popular than Chkrootkit. We know about 1 link to it since March 2021 and only 1 link to Chkrootkit. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
If you are extremely worried about root kits you would need to start with a clean system and then whitelist any "positives". If your concerned you would have to use the tedious method of using dpkg to determine what package a file belongs to, one at a time, and then compare it's checksum to the back installed...
