  • Looking for color font creator tools
All I what I saw are premium software. The only software I found at the lowest price is (FontBird)[https://birdfont.org/] = $10. But I don't know, I downloaded the free version (which doesn't support color fonts) and it seems to me that the software is not maintained well or glitchy! Source: over 1 year ago
  • How to create custom typeface for free
FontForge is the best free font editor right now, although there are some others in development. A great place to start learning is to read the Design with FontForge ebook, which will quickly teach you a lot of the basics that can be applied no matter which font editing software you're using. If you're struggling with FontForge, you can also try BirdFont which is a bit simpler. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Key to my recent script (still working on it)
Besides, for adding the ligatures I use Birdfont for Linux. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Any open source alternative to fontforge?
More seriously, not really. Well maybe you can try Birdfont but usually FontForge is regarded as the most complete free editor. Birdfont looks more simple so it might work for you, I don’t know much about it. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Nerdfont glyph for GIMP
d/l fontforge or birdfont or whatever glyph editor you prefer, I mention these because both are GPL and can import SVGs directly; now embed wilber in a font of your choice and volia! You're now posess the (possibly) first wilber font glyph. Just don't redistribute it and try to claim it as yours, because nacho cheese! (well its possible you could be Tuomas, but I doubt it.). • SN Pro – a free, open-source font designed for Markdown
Although we had never designed a font before, we had extensive experience using Figma to create our app's user interface, custom icons, and svgs over the past few years. Recognizing that creating a font from scratch would be a daunting task, we opted to adapt Nunito. To re-design and create our own stamp on the typeface, we chose Glyphs [1], a beautifully crafted and meticulously planned program. Over the course... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Adobe Gives Up on Web-Design Product to Rival Figma After Deal Collapse
I agree that 150usd might be too cheap for pro market but like I mentioned maybe they found out they need to first go for amateurs. Who knows maybe they will make it more expensive in future or offer some kind of pro option. I also have to mention maybe your expectations are a bit skewed? Software dev got cheaper and not everything has to be breakneck hype venture capital squeeze. There is type design software... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago

Get the free trial of Glyphs and you can turn it into a font. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Software for making typefaces?
Glyphs (Mac only) and FontLab (Mac+Windows) are both very well regarded. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Anyone know a custom alphabet maker?
I recently redesigned one of my conscripts and had a pleasant experience using Glyphs 3. It's a paid product but offers a 30 days free trial which was enough for my immediate needs. Source: over 1 year ago
