Sometimes at tough times I want to go back to a verse my pastor offered but I usually forget which ones later. I can email him but at 1am I just want to find the verse, read it, and contemplate the situation. More likely is that I'm talking with a friend and they have an issue that I know my Pastor had a verse for and I just can't remember it. Second, the cultural divide. Our society has nothing in common with the societies represented in the Bible other than the rich screwing over the poor. Sexuality was not the same. Masculinity and femininity were not the same. The law and politics were not the same. The languages were so different that we don't even know what they sounded like. I can’t suggest any authors for you but consider getting a ESV woman’s study Bible by CrossWay (it’s great from what I hear) and maybe consider ESword or Blue letter Bible for software. They also have youth and student bibles if you would prefer to start there and there is also other software I’m not familiar with that is popular for a reason. Source: 11 months ago
