  • Is there an app to keep track of all the details when writing a story?
Also, if you're kinda of an indie author, try Bibisco or Focuswriter. Source: 10 months ago

  • Looking for tools
I use Bibisco! IIRC it’s totally free. It’s very helpful for allowing me to organize my characters, plot points, and chapters in a visual way. Highly recommend. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Looking for tools
The free version of Bibisco is a pretty good place to start. Here's an article about a couple other options as well. I've used Wavemaker Cards and like that, too. If you like spreadsheets to work with, TreeSheets is worth a look. It's a free-form spreadsheet, which means you can click on a line and create a new column or row. And you can color code cells, insert images, link cells into hierarchies, etc. Source: about 1 year ago

Quoll Writer mentions (12)

  • Looking for a novel plotting software.
Quoll Writer is free and might fit the bill! I know it does the link thing. Source: 10 months ago
  • Writing tools - Scrivener on sale
Does Scrivener have any real benefit over free software like Quoll Writer or yWriter? I've used yWriter in the past. I'm using Quoll Writer for my current project and it does everything I need it to do. Source: 10 months ago
  • What do ya'll typically use to write with?
My go-to suggestions for free are Quoll Writer or Smart Edit Writer for things with a lot of the functionality of Scrivener, without the clutter or price tag, or Wavemaker if you want heavier planning tools (plot cards, time line, database etc). Source: 11 months ago
  • Writing programs?
Practically any text editor will do :) Word or its free/open-source equivalents. You can also have a look at this post that I made a while ago. Some other examples of free writing software (with outlining/notes and such) include Quoll Writer, yWriter or SmartEdit Writer. Source: 12 months ago
  • What is something that is super cheap, but vastly improves your quality of life?
I write and liked Scrivener but it felt a little too bloated. I just want a word processor that does that, but simplified. I use Quoll Writer and they just introduced night mode. Best of all, it's free! Source: about 1 year ago
