  In the midst of renovating my main residence and my interior designer suggested I get some paintings and wall art. Previously had filled the space up with random monochromatic paintings that she picked, but nothing of personal value or dollar value. I know nothing about art. Where do I start?   Artfinder.com is interesting, although it seems they deal mostly in contemporary artists. Check out etsy as well--lots of good handmade items there. On another note, I was in Austria recently and got a couple hand made statues from wood in Salzburg. Sorry I don't have a name but you can google for hand made statues or icons.
